Zen is a total state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind. Zen is a way of being. It also is a state of mind. Zen involves dropping illusion and seeing things without distortion created by your own thoughts.

Five Minute Friday: Visit (Day 24)

   Standing in line I scan the menu to decide what it is I want.  After choosing and ordering, it's then I realize I have forgotten my debit card in the car.  After apologizing at length to the  cashier I rush back out into the cold to retrieve my card.  Upon reentering the joint I am met with the greeting of a former gracious customer who paid my meal forward and cleared my name of the debt I owed.  It was just a small visit.  A visit from a complete stranger, who just replied it's o.k. I have been there before.
     What an impact that small visit into my life made.  It made me ponder.  Do my small visits make an impact on others?  Am I living my life to make those impacts?  I want to make big impacts.  Big splashes in the ocean of life.  My mind wanders to all of the small visits or contacts, comments, conversations that were just fleeting, but made huge impacts in the lives of those they touched.
     I want to leave a legacy.  Not to become a namesake, but to just simply have made a difference.  This world is cruel.  It can so easily consume us into drone-ness.  We can easily become robots, wandering around with no purpose.  I want to have purpose.  Let my little visits be remembered in appreciation.  I will begin tomorrow...
