What is Zen?

Zen is a total state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind. Zen is a way of being. It also is a state of mind. Zen involves dropping illusion and seeing things without distortion created by your own thoughts.

A Hopeful Find (Day 10)

January 10, 2014

I found a penny yesterday.  I wasn't expecting to find a penny where I found this little gem of hope.  It's helping my year begin to make a little "cents".  We all struggle with things in our lives.  Even relationships.  Being married comes with it's challenges.  Anyone who tells you that their marriage is perfect is not telling an exact truth.

Being a wife of just 5 years (working on the 6th) has certainly contained it's challenges as does any relationship.  I love my husband dearly and want nothing more than for our marriage to be the best possible marriage.  Some days we hit a few road bumps.  When I found that penny we had just hit a little road bump.  But this same road bump keeps popping up in our road.  I was down about a disagreement we had had and it left my mind reeling.  Just before bed, I put up the suitcase that we had recently used and there on the floor in the closet was a penny.  I reached down, picked it up, read the words "In God We Trust" and said a little prayer.  I knew then that everything would be alright.

This morning dawned a new day.  Yes Lord I trust you.  You make everything better.  We talked it out, made some new discoveries, and have vowed to make some changes for each other.  I can also see God begin working in him.  Isn't it funny how we worry about things only to look back later and discover it really wasn't anything to worry about.  God says he will take care of us.

Matthew 6:25-34 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life ?  "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

God you are so good!  I will be anxiously waiting for that next penny!

Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
