What is Zen?

Zen is a total state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind. Zen is a way of being. It also is a state of mind. Zen involves dropping illusion and seeing things without distortion created by your own thoughts.

Day 9

I finally stumbled across one of my challenges! Yesterday while Keith and I were on a road trip he decided that Mexican food sounded good. Mexican has to be one of my favorite kind of food to eat by far. We all know that Mexican foods are heavy laden with carbs and who can resist the complimentary chips and salsa. They were very tempting, however I managed to get by with eating about 5-6 chips and eating chili rellenos which is a pepper stuffed with cheese. The pepper is breaded, but I figured that it probably had less carbs than some other things I could have chosen and it is a vegetable after all.

One of you mentioned that when we have time off it is much easier to be tempted and I will have to agree with them. Even though it is a little harder, stay focused look toward the end of the tunnel and go for it! It is funny how we have such strong cravings for the things we know we shouldn't have or do isn't it. I think the best way to over come those cravings is to give in to them, but sacrifice portion size to equal it out. It is much better to have one chocolate for instance than having 3 other foods trying to kill the craving and then giving into the chocolate on top of the others.

Keep up the great work! I will see you on Monday.

  1. Weekends are hard for me too. All of the boys in my house love to eat, so it is tough to hang out with them without giving in to the temptations.
