What is Zen?

Zen is a total state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind. Zen is a way of being. It also is a state of mind. Zen involves dropping illusion and seeing things without distortion created by your own thoughts.

Day 7

Is this not the best team ever! I can't speak for everyone, but it sounds like we are on the "losing" side of things this week! However I do have faith that everyone met their goals and beyond this week! Brad even looks like he has lost since weigh in. I have heard that two of you have been very successful this week! I am so proud of you! I hope I can do almost as good as you both did! You know that means that our team has almost lost 20lbs.?! That's just between two of us! I see that most of us think that Emily is going to be the biggest loser this week. I even had a vote! Hmm I am sensing that there isn't much faith in me...come on now you all! An order of encouragement please! LOL

Today is going to be a very busy day and with that maybe there will be many calories burned! I plan on going to the gym today (I can really feel it when I miss) and I have dance class so I should burn extra calories today! I did work on some toning and weight training last night since I didn't go to the gym. What time is the latest we can weigh in? I think it is a good strategy some of you used today by weighing in first thing. Our bodies have fasted all night and our stomaches are empty. Very good idea! I will have to try that next time.

Game point team...let's go for round two! I hope you have a great 3 days off and it is very productive for you. With some time off maybe we can do some extra activities that we normally wouldn't have time for. I already have some planned!

  1. Hey guys I am so excited! I lost more than I thought I had this week! Talk about inspiring! Our team has lost a huge amount of its percentage. Way to go team!

  2. Yay us! I am so proud of everyone! I know that we have all worked hard to get where we are. Just remember that when we weigh in next week, the results may not be as fabtabulous (we were rather crafty with our weigh in last week)...but as long as we continue to lose at a health pace we can be proud of our accomplishments.

I'm so happy that I lost weight while still having my one coke a day. Those little things make a difference. I'm not gonna lie, I could drink 4-5 cokes a day if I gave in...but the fact that you all hold me accountable makes me happy. I am so blessed to be a part of a wonderful team (in and out of school)!

Keep up the good work as we enjoy our 3 days off...I know its more difficult for me to limit my calories when my schedules is more free, but I promise not to let you all down during the next weigh in. Good luck all!

  4. When I walked in Total Fitness, they said, "Lincoln. . . yall are kicking butt!" Now, that was motivating to hear. I only lost 4.4, so I definitely wasn't the biggest loser. Don't vote me off though. Someone once told me that slow and steady wins the race. We've all done great! Let's keep it up phat cats.

  5. Everyone is doing great. Emily, I wouldn't call 4.4 pounds slow. I will be happy if I can lose that much each week. That will be well over 30 pounds by the end of the challenge. I'm so glad that you all are my teammates. You all are definitely motivating me to keep working hard.

Is there any way to post recipes? I would like to try the taco soup recipe.

We must be doing something right. I've heard rumors the last couple of days about how we have personal trainers and personal chefs to help us. Success always leads to jealousy.

If anyone wants to exercise over the next three days, let me know.

    Go Phat Cats

  6. You all are a killer team! I have to say this has been fun for me...I think that is why I was so successful this week, plus I have had a few motivational words thrown around here and there by all of you! I will not let you all down either! So I am taking it from Emily that we must be the school who has done the best this week? I will have to say I am really proud of everyone as well. And Shalee please do post that recipe! I think we are doing everything right! ;) We are staying in touch, encouraging each other, holding each other accountable, and let's just face it we don't want to let one another down and we are very competitive! Have a great three days! When I left school this afternoon I was feeling a little under the weather, so I have been under the covers since about 5. Just trying to feel a little better before the weekend! Thanks for not voting me off just yet! You guys are great!

  7. So, I was quite proud of me today...I got up and went to the gym and did 4 miles on the elliptical this morning. Then a little later I went to Sol Az and ordered a half order of chicken fajita nachos, and I couldn't even finish it! And this time it wasn't b/c I had gorged on chips and salsa. Sorry, just had to brag a bit...mexican food (along with cokes) are my weaknesses. I'm so proud of all of us.

    Taco Soup:

I figured it up and if you divided the pot of soup evenly into 8 containers it's 263 calories per serving.

Cook 1 lb of turkey. Rinse.
Simmer turkey in 1/2 pack of taco seasoning and a smidge of dry ranch mix

While that's simmering, add to the crock pot:
    1 can of mexi corn
    1 can of regular corn
    2 cans of beans (I used pinto b/c that's what I like)
    1 can of rotel
    1 can of tomato paste
(This is not exactly what the original recipe called for, but tweek it to your own liking as I did)

    Stir and add ground turkey

I cooked mine one high for about two hours, but it tastes better if you simmer it on low for about 4-6 hrs. I also added a smidge of hot sauces to mine.

You can eat this plain (which decreases the calories) or eat it with tostitos and cheese.

Keep up the good work everyone! Enjoy your long weekend!

  8. Go Shalee! The taco soup is delicious. I had no idea it was turkey meat. Tasty. Josh and I walked the mall for 45 minutes today. I have a blister on my little toe, so that should count for something. I knew we would be eating fast food for lunch, so I ate a small breakfast. Josh is fixing fish and veggies for supper. I'm so spoiled with my own personal chef. Fish always makes me feel healthier.
